Mass for the Inauguration of the 2023-2024 Academic Year
September 8, 2023
On the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Friday, September 8, the Regina Pacis Academy community, including members of the Board of Trustees, school administration, faculty, students, and families, gathered together for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, celebrated by the Very Reverend Cyprian P. LaPastina, Pastor of The Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist in Stamford, to mark the beginning of the 2023-2024 Academic Year. The celebration of this Mass is an important event in the life of our school as it provides our community the opportunity to begin the academic year rooted in prayer, as we asked for the intercession on behalf of our beloved school of our Patroness, Our Lady, Queen of Peace, on the feast of her birth.
In addition, it is our custom at this Mass - one shared by few Catholic elementary schools - of having the members of our Board, administration, and faculty make a public Profession of Faith and take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. This is a public affirmation of Regina Pacis’ Mission Statement, namely “to achieve academic excellence and to nurture an intimate relationship with Christ as modeled by the Apostles, by providing a Roman Catholic classical education taught by teachers loyal to the Magisterium.”
At the conclusion of the Mass, students and members of our faculty new to Regina Pacis received the Brown Scapular and were invested in the Confraternity of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel. Following Mass, parents enjoyed an inviting brunch in our School Auditorium.
